The Red Devils have an ongoing injury crisis in defence

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martnez, Manchester United's first-choice centre-backs, may miss the entire season owing to injuries sustained in the first-leg Europa League match against Sevilla, according to Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United worries that Raphael Varane's injury will prevent them from having both of their starting centre-backs for the remainder of the season.

Due to a broken metatarsal sustained in the first leg of the Europa League match against Sevilla, Lisandro Martinez had already been declared out for the remaining two months.

Varane, who left the previous Old Trafford match in pain during the break, might now be out for the remainder.

Erik ten Hag's problems are made worse because Harry Maguire is also suspended for the Wembley matchup ahead of today's FA Cup semi-final against Brighton.

Varane, 29, will be absent for the team's next eight Premier League games, which will be a major setback as they attempt to secure a top-four finish.

Before getting worse during the Euro quarterfinal, the French defender had been coping with an ankle problem for around a month.

Due to excessive oedema, the initial scans did not provide specific data; nevertheless, there are already indications that he may need to miss up to six weeks of work.

If United progress to the Cup binding, it advances him, and it's feared that he wouldn't be able to make it. Since leaving Real Madrid in 2021 for a reported £34 million, Varane has struggled with injuries. But during this period, when fit, he has developed a strong connection with Martinez.
