The Red Devils are one of the most followed clubs worldwide
In football, there are some amazing records if you look hard enough. So is it accurate to say that Manchester United have never lost a match after being up at the half?
The claim that the Red Devils have never lost after being up at the interval is not entirely accurate. Nonetheless, since May 1984, the Red Devils have not dropped a home Premier League game after being up at the break. Their streak spans over 40 years and 750 home league games, more than 300 of which they were in front of at the break. It occurred about 40 years ago!
As of the conclusion of the 2021–2022 season, it also includes 738 home league matches and the whole of the Premier League.
The last time United suffered a home loss after taking the lead at halftime was on May 7, 1984, when Ipswich Town rallied from a goal by Mark Hughes in the first half to defeat United 2-1.
United has led at the break in 303 games in the Premier League alone. Later, they went on to win 280 of those contests while drawing the remaining 23.
The last time Manchester United suffered a home loss while in the lead came in the 1983–84 campaign. The match versus Ipswich on May 7, 1984, is widely remembered.
The Ron Atkinson-led team appeared poised to end that curse during the 1983–84 campaign. Even in their quarterfinal of the European Cup Winners' Cup against Barcelona, they had rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 overall. Everything appeared to be going well.
They have only lost four of their first 32 league games by the end of March. They topped the standings in February and March after a run of five victories and a tie.
