PSG boss Christophe Galtier handed 'two games' to turn things around

Victories have been hard to come for PSG since the turn of the year

After a slump in play which has witnessed PSG lose eight games this season, exit the UEFA Champions League, and see their Ligue 1 advantage reduced to just six points, manager Christophe Galtier has "only TWO games to save his career," according to reports.

The Parisians have had a difficult start to 2023, dropping eight of their past 18 games across all competitions and going out of the Champions League in the last 16.

With their 1-0 home loss to Lyon on Sunday night, they now only have a six-point lead over Lens and Marseille in the fight for the championship, which ought to have been over by now.

According to L'Equipe, Christophe Galtier is under a lot of pressure right now, and the results of PSG's upcoming games against Lens and Nice in the top two leagues will determine whether he survives or not.

With seven matches remaining, if they falter in any, the title race will be very much open.

According to a French sports publication, Christophe Galtier's long-term future is questionable nevertheless because PSG anticipates that he would step down if they find the proper replacement.

The PSG administration would find it intolerable if they are unsuccessful in defending their Ligue 1 championship, especially after they lost to Bayern Munich 3-0 on aggregate in the Champions League.

Lionel Messi 'ciriticism'

It happens in the midst of escalating friction inside the organisation, with fans once more jeering Lionel Messi on Sunday night as he delays signing a new contract for a third season at the Parc des Princes.

Christophe Galtier, 56, reacted angrily to what he called "extremely severe" criticism from PSG fans of the Argentina World Cup champion, who has scored 18 goals and provided 17 assists for the club this year.

He said ''Whistles against Leo Messi are very harsh. Leo is a player who gives a lot. He also gave a lot in the first part of the season but it is also up to other players to have more functions."

''We are waiting for Leo and Kylian Mbappe, to unlock situations, But around Leo, the players must take more responsibility, because we can't expect everything to come from Leo or Kylian.''
