Brendan Rodgers was recently sacked by the Foxes
With Brendan Rodgers' departure from Leicester City on Sunday after four years in command, the competition to become the club's next manager will intensify.
Rodgers' dismissal was the result of a terrible run of results, and the 2021 FA Cup winners' 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace on Saturday, who are also in relegation contention, was the last straw.
A decline into a relegation battle couldn't be avoided despite the Northern Irishman's incredible season before while at the King Power Stadium with Leicester City, including the FA Cup, Community Shield, two top-five Premier League wraps up, and a first-ever European semi-final. The new manager's highest priority will be top-flight sustenance.
Thomas Frank, the head coach of Brentford, Ange Postecoglou, Marcelo Bielsa, experienced Rafa Benitez, and Mauricio Pochettino, the ex-manager of Spurs and PSG, are all candidates for the position.
This is a glance at the potential candidates for the position of manager at Leicester City:
3. Dean Smith
Earlier in the year, Dean Smith's name was brought up in connection with the position; he is currently jobless after being fired by Norwich. Before being fired in a move that split Aston Villa's supporters, Smith performed admirably for his old club. Nevertheless, his side suffered a demotion to Championship with Norwich the previous campaign and was fired in December as the Canaries lost ground in the playoff chase.
2. Ralph Hasenhuttl
The Austrian, who was fired by fellow underachievers Southampton earlier this campaign, may emerge as a serious contender for the position.
His high-pressing tactics could mesh well with the team at the King Power Stadium, although Leicester City have struggled this season due to goal leakage from his Southampton team.
1. Rafael Benitez
Benitez, a champions league hero, is still looking for work after being fired by Everton in January 2022. The Spaniard may be viewed as a safe pair of hands that could extract the most out of the Foxes' underwhelming players after successful stints with Liverpool, Chelsea, and Newcastle prior to his career.
After failing to keep Newcastle in the Premier League in 2016, he stayed with the club and guided them back to the top division.
