Three players Bengaluru FC should target this summer
Bengaluru FC reached three finals last season, winning one.
Bengaluru FC are one of the most exciting teams in the Indian Super League. The Blues had a remarkable season, winning the Durand Cup and making it to the finals of the Indian Super League and Hero Super Cup 2023. However, if they want to keep up their impressive performances and challenge for the trophies, they need to sign some new players in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Here are the top three players Bengaluru should target this summer.
3. Mohammad Yasir
Manipuri winger Mohammad Yasir is a promising talent who was in scintillating form in this recently concluded season. The Indian winger, currently playing for Hyderabad FC, is a skilful and pacey player who can create chances and score important goals. Yasir has developed well over the past few seasons and has established himself as a key player for Hyderabad over the past few seasons.
At 25, Yasir is approaching his prime and is likely to only get better. He would be an exciting addition to the Bengaluru FC attack and could help them unlock defences with his dribbling skills and creativity. His work rate, too, is second to none.
2. Chinglensana Singh
Bengaluru’s biggest need this summer is a new Indian center-back to replace Sandesh Jhighan, who is set to leave the club this summer. Chinglensana Singh, who currently plays for Hyderabad FC would be an excellent addition to the Blues squad as he fits the bill perfectly. The Indian centre-back is versatile and dependable and is known for his physicality, positioning, and ability to provide an attacking threat from set-pieces.
Sana is comfortable on the ball and is adept at playing in a back-four or back-three. The 26-year-old defender made 53 appearances for Hyderabad FC during his three seasons with the club and was an important part of their title-winning team in the 2021-22 season.
1. Leo Lacroix
With Alan Costa on his way out of the club, the Blues need a new foreign defender, and Léo Lacroix would be an ideal candidate. Lacroix is a physically strong and commanding presence in defence, and has a wealth of experience in his career, having played for clubs such as Saint-Etienne, FC Sion, and Hamburg. His aerial ability and positioning make him a strong, composed, and a natural leader, who can marshal the backline and win aerial duels with ease.
His ability to read the game, make interceptions, and distribute the ball could be a valuable asset to Bengaluru’s backline. Bengaluru FC conceded 23 goals in 20 league games last season, which is not good enough if they want to regularly challenge for the title. Lacroix could help solve this problem.
