The Spaniard is yet to extend his contract at Real Madrid

In the midst of days-long discussions, Aston Villa this week made an initial offer to Marco Asensio. However, there hasn't been a decision made yet because PSG and other Italian teams have also contacted Asensio.

Romao also confirmed that Aston Villa are pressuring Real Madrid to respond and, for now, making Marco Asensio their primary target.

Although Asensio is still waiting on any choices regarding his future, it is believed that a deal with the Premier League side is "very close" after he turned down a Real Madrid contract extension.

Marco Asensio, who has won three La Liga championships and three Champions League championships, would be a big coup for Villa.

Although the former RCD Mallorca player's playing time has dramatically decreased lately, he has still managed to score an outstanding 24 goals in his last two campaigns.

In 2014, tennis ace Rafa Nadal reportedly played a crucial role in securing Marco Asensio's €3.9 million move to Real. He has already made nearly 200 appearances for Los Blancos, but Sunday's match against Athletic Bilbao at the Santiago Bernabeu appears to be his last.

Carlo Ancelotti, manager of Real Madrid, has stated that he is unsure of Asensio's future plans but anticipates that information will become available shortly.

During the conference, he claimed: "On the subject of Asensio, I don't know what the situation is, just as I don't know about Nacho. Before the last game, everything will be cleared up."

On a personal level, I'm sad to see them go because they are very important. We'll prepare for next season depending on the decisions they make."

Marco Asensio, who is only 27 years old, has continued to perform at the peak of his game this season despite being used more frequently as a substitute.

And despite Real Madrid lacking a true right-twin player, they have instead gone with Valverde and Rodrygo to fill in in the area.

Therefore, it will be wiser for the Spanish star to join a team where he can play the most games, which Aston Villa will undoubtedly offer.

Asensio's signing definitely would relieve Emiliano Buendia of some of the pressure because the Villains only have one player who regularly plays on the right wing.

However, there are other teams, and Aston Villa's not being in the Champions League currently may have an impact on his decision to join them.
