The Signal Iduna Park will play host to Wolfsburg who're chasing a Europa League spot in 7th spot in the Bundesliga table.

Borussia Dortmund have been unable to capitalise on the inconsistent form of league leaders Bayern Munich, as they yet again failed to keep their lead at the top last week, and drew 1-1 to relegation-threatened VFL Bochum. This has been the undoing of Erin Terzic's men who've been unable to inspire themselves to win those crucial games of very small margins.

After Bayern's loss to Mainz a couple of weeks ago, it looked certain that Dortmund would finally get their hands back on the Bundesliga title, especially with the thrashing of Frankfurt. However, Bayern finds themselves at the summit yet again, with four-game weeks left to go, and the Yellow and Blacks have themselves to blame(more losses than Bayern with 7) despite having 19 wins on the year (1 more than Bayern).

If not for their faltering home record, Wolfsburg would have to fight for a Champions League position right now. Wolfsburg have the tenth-best record at home having won five of their fifteen matches and drawing seven, & three losses. However, their underdog mentality with their youthful fervour away from home is a reflection of their coach Niko Kovac's philosophy, and it's reflected in their third-best away record, only bettered by Bayern and Freiburg. The Wolves will travel to Dortmund looking to win their eighth match away from home and put a further dent in Dortmund's title ambitions, and boost their European bid.

Kick Off:

Sunday, 07-05-2023, 04:00 PM (GMT)

Borussia Dortmund form (All Competitions): D-W-D-W-L

Wolfsburg form (All Competitions): W-W-D-W-L

Player to watch

Borussia Dortmund: Jude Bellingham

The young Englishman has to stand out in this physically contested tie against a motivated and upcoming Wolfsburg team. Similar to his team's performance, Jude has been relatively inconsistent by his incredibly high standards in recent weeks. The fluctuating nature of their recent performances has again allowed Bayern to reclaim the lead at the top of the Bundesliga table. However, similar to his last home performance in the rout of Frankfurt where Dortmund ended up winning 4-0, and Jude ended up scoring the crucial opening goal, he needs to replicate the performance for Dortmund to win again.

VfL Wolfsburg: Jonas Wind

The Denmark International capped off his most complete performance in a Wolfsburg shirt as he scored a brace in a 3-0 home win against Mainz last weekend. The tall centre-forward has formed a good partnership with Kevin Wimmer upfront for Wolfsburg who've combined for 18 goal contributions this season in the Bundesliga, and helping in their push for a Europa League spot. However, the goals haven't been coming in at a canter for the young Dane who joined from Kobenhavn in the summer of last year. However, it looks like he's coming into his own in the final part of the season and will be a threat against the Dortmund defence this weekend.
