The Reds have competed among the elites in the past six seasons.

Liverpool's run of six back-to-back UEFA Champions League campaigns might come to an end as Premier League football reaches its final weekend. The Reds are currently fifth in the standings and three points behind their arch-rivals, Manchester United. Erik ten Hag's men have an edge over Jurgen Klopp's Red Army. The Red Devils also have a game in hand over Liverpool. However, there is still a chance for Liverpool to make it to the big stage.

The Merseyside team depends a lot on Manchester United to ensure their qualification. Manchester City, Arsenal, and Newcastle United have already qualified for the Champions League. Manchester United are the favourites to fill the fourth spot. They have 69 points and have two matches in hand. Liverpool are just behind them on 66 points but only have one match remaining. The Reds have a superior goal difference of 28, while United have a low goal difference of 11.

This equation of goal difference makes the table more interesting. Manchester United play Chelsea and Fulham in their remaining matches. They only need a single point to guarantee qualification. However, if they lose both matches and Liverpool wins theirs against Southampton, then the Reds will make it through in a dramatic way. Liverpool are 10 matches unbeaten in the league.

There is still a chance that Liverpool can make it to Champions League football, but it all depends on Manchester United. They only need a single point from two home games. Liverpool needs a favour from their rivals if they want to play their seventh consecutive season in the Champions League. The Reds last won the competition in the 2018-19 season.
