Inter Milan progress through to the UEFA Champions League final
The Nerazzurri have reached the final showdown of the UCL for the first time since 2010
Inter Milan are through to the UEFA Champions League 2022-23 final after beating their biggest rivals AC Milan with an aggregated score of 3-0 in the semi-finals.
The Nerazzurri started the opening leg of the semi-final with intend to leave no questions left for the second leg. On the front foot right away, Edin Dzeko scored in the 8th minute. Dzeko became the second oldest footballer to ever score in a UCL semi-final at 37y 54d.
Former Manchester United player Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored in the 11th minute to hand Inter the 2-0 advantage. The Nerazzurri did have the ball in the back of the net once again minutes later, but the goal was chalked off.
AC Milan were missing star forward Rafael Leão and the rest of the team hardly had a kick throughout the 90. André Onana’s goal was never under any real threat. Inter Milan won the first leg 2-0. But with Leao expected to be fit for the second leg, there was still the possibility for an incredible turnaround at the San Siro.

AC Milan had two good chances to get right back into the game in the first half of the second leg. But Rafael Leão and Brahim Díaz failed to bounce upon the opportunity. The Inter Milan captain on the day Lautaro Martinez scored the final goal in the tie in the 74th minute of the second leg as Inter won the clash with a 3-0 aggregate scoreline.
Real Madrid or Manchester City?
Inter Milan will now face one of either Real Madrid or Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League final. This will be Inter’s first UCL final since 2010. The 2022-23 UEFA Champions League season will conclude at Istanbul’s Atatürk Olympic Stadium on Saturday 10 June 2023. The Nerazzurri will be looking to add a 4th Champions League trophy to their incredible trophy collection at the end of this seaosn.
