The 15-year-old played seven minutes against Real Betis this season
Lamine Yamal, the young Spanish wonderkid, has emerged as a bright star for club and country. The 15-year-old has already made his debut for Barcelona this season, he is a bright star making his name in European football, particularly in the ongoing Euro U17.
As a rising talent, he is exceptional on and off the ball and technically very sound for a 15-year-old. Lamine Yamal's ability to read the game, make precise passes, and create scoring opportunities for his team has set him apart from his peers. With his natural talent, he has captured the attention of fans and experts.
Moreover, his versatility allows him to play and excel in multiple positions; even though he prefers to play as a forward, he can also play as an attacking midfielder and a winger. Breakout season for Lamine Yamal
Barcelona fans have something to cheer on after winning the LaLiga title after four years, and along with this, their young sensation has starred for Spain in the U17 Euros. After becoming the youngest-ever player to play for Barcelona, he has played in all four matches for Spain.
La Roja faced Italy in their first group-stage match; all eyes were on Lamine Yamal. The match started with Italy scoring within the first 15 minutes of the match. Even though Yamal didn't score or assist in that game, Spain won the match 2-1. It was just a glimpse of what we could expect from Yamal; in his first match, he impressed everybody.
Matchday 2 saw another impressive performance by the Spanish team; they faced Slovenia in that match. In that match, Yamal rose to the occasion and scored a goal, which helped Spain to be at the top of the table with one matchday still to go. Everything is going well for Lamine Yamal at the U17 Euros. With his exceptional display in front of the goal, he also ended up with one assist in that 3-1 victory against Slovenia.
The 15-year-old already made it to the starting eleven in both of their matches; the final group stage match against Serbia left everybody wondering what this youngster has in his bag. He scored a spectacular goal against Serbia in a match where Serbia led for almost the entire match. In the 78th minute, he scored a proper replica of what Arjen Robben used to score. He took the ball on the left wing, beating the defender on the top of the penalty box, cut in with his favourite left foot, and guided it into the top corner.
In the quarterfinal match against Ireland, he was the star man for Spain on the night in Budapest. Spain opened the scoring with Orlando City midfielder Alejandro Granados scoring a brilliant opener to give a 1-0 halftime lead. Lamal continued to show his ability; he tormented the Irish defence after the restart and provided an assist to La Masia star Marc Guiu, who scored the second home goal. He, along with Yamal, has been playing exceptional football for Spain.
The record-breaking Lamine Yamal was not to be denied a place on the scoresheet; his fine solo effort sealed the victory. Yamal has three goals and two assists in four games, confirming that he is the star of the tournament so far, and his performances helped Spain seal a ticket to the semifinal.
Spain will face the current trophy holders, France, one last hurdle before they can book a place in the final, where they will face the winner of Poland and Germany. La Roja will certainly rely on Yamal to produce yet another brilliant performance to get them through the final.
The youngster will also look forward to joining Xavi and his men for pre-season, his performances in this tournament will help him gain Xavi's trust and include Yamal in his plans for the next season. With various attacking options leaving Camp Nou this summer, it will not come as a surprise if Yamal becomes a viable option for Xavi next season.
