Ranking the favourites to win Premier League POTM award for April
These players were on top form throughout the month
The 2022-23 season of the Premier League is heading towards its business end. As we approach the final few game weeks, the action is becoming more intense and feisty. During the round of matches in April, the millions of fans of the league saw players shine for their respective clubs, scoring plenty of goals and delivering sensational performances.
Eight players have received nominations for the Premier League POTM award for April 2023. They are Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland of Manchester City, Diogo Jota of Liverpool, Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace, Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson of Newcastle United, Dominic Solanke of Bournemouth and Ollie Watkins of Aston Vila.
The winner of the POTM award will receive an icon card in FIFA 23 as well. They are extremely popular amongst the gamers that play the FIFA 23 Ultimate Team game mode. As the votings take place on EA Sports’ website, here is a ranking of the favourites to win the POTM award for April 2023 in the Premier League:
7. Eberechi Eze
Eberechi Eze scored four goals for Crystal Palace in April. His goals were crucial in wins against Leeds United and Southampton for the Eagles who are in a comfortable position thanks in the league thanks to four wins out of six games in the month.
6. Alexander Isak
Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak is one of the nominees due to his brilliant and consistent performances in April. The striker got four goals and an assist, helping NUFC secure five wins from six matches.
5. Dominic Solanke
Dominic Solanke was in fabulous form for AFC Bournemouth across April. The striker scored four goals and made one assist to help the Cherries secure vital points in the league. Before April, Solanke had only two goals in the league, which makes his performance even more impactful.
4. Diogo Jota
Diogo Jota scored five goals and recorded four assists for Liverpool FC across April. His extremely late goal against Tottenham Hotspur was particularly noteworthy which kept the Reds’ hopes for a UCL spot alive. The Portuguese international is justifying his quality as the season approaches its end.
3. Callum Wilson
Callum Wilson found red-hot form for Newcastle United after suffering frustrating periods on the bench. The striker scored a whopping seven goals for the club in April 2023. He also had an assist which takes his goal contributions to eight from seven games. He now has 15 goals in the Premier League’s 2022-23 season.
2. Kevin De Bruyne
Kevin De Bruyne was outstanding for Manchester City, particularly in their triumphant win over Arsenal. The skipper scored a brilliant brace to hand his team a huge advantage in the title race over the Gunners. Overall, he made four assists in addition to scoring three goals for MCFC in the league alone.
1. Erling Haaland
Erling Haaland is the overwhelming favourite to win the Premier League POTM (Player of the Month) award for the month of April 2023. The Norwegian international scored seven goals and assisted two assists for the Citizens. Interestingly, Haaland scored in each game during April for MCFC and broke Salah’s record for most goals in a Premier League season in the process. Erling Haaland has 35 goals in 31 appearances in the league this season.
