Jude Bellingham agree on personal terms with Real Madrid

The transfer of Borussia Dortmund player Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid is almost complete. Manchester City and other Premier League teams have expressed interest in the England player, but discussions with Madrid are nearing their conclusion.

The Champions League holders and Bellingham have almost reached a personal agreement, and Juni Calafat, their head scout, has played a key role in advancing the process. To try to finalise a deal with Dortmund, an appointment is planned.

Madrid hopes to wrap up the subject this month despite the fact that no money has been agreed upon. Madrid does not foresee difficulty in that respect. The Spanish club's advancement is a setback for City, who are their main pursuers of Bellingham, who will be 20 in June.

Liverpool pulled out from the competition last month because the expense would have prevented Jürgen Klopp's team from receiving the necessary upgrades. Manchester United is interested in the player, although their interest is dependent on the Glazers' decisions to sell the team or seek outside funding.

Bellingham moved to Dortmund from Birmingham in 2020, where he quickly rose to become one of the particularly coveted players in the world. Achieving Bellingham for Madrid requires both immediate consideration and succession preparation, since Toni Kroos and Luka Modric are 33 and 37 years old, correspondingly.

Madrid have lagged behind Barcelona in La Liga this season and are currently 14 points behind them after their loss to Real Sociedad on Tuesday, but they are still in the running for two titles. They meet City in the Champions League semifinals; their initial leg is on Tuesday at the Bernabéu; and they take on Osasuna in the Copa del Rey championship game on Saturday.
