Senegal announces squad for FIFA U20 World Cup
The African nation have revealed their squad for the tournament
Senegal, triumphant of the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt, are currently concentrating on making a mark on the global arena, with the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup beginning earlier this month. On Thursday, manager Malick Daf released his 21-player roster for the competition in Argentina, with one conspicuous absence.
Lamine Camara, who joined FC Metz of France's Ligue 2 after earning the Egyptian Player of the Tournament title, will not compete in order to remain with the new team and help Metz battle for a return to Ligue 1.
The players to keep an eye on in the Senegalese midfield are Pape Diop of Belgian side Zulte Waregem and Mamadou Lamine Camara from Morocco's RS Berkane.
Génération Foot colleagues Amidou Diop and Souleymane Basse will line up at full-back, whereas Babacar Ndiaye and Seydou Sano will stay in the lineup after creating a central defence alliance for each of the six games in Egypt.
