Benjamin Fredrick, a defender for the Flying Eagles, is reportedly now drawing attention from top European clubs as a result of his efforts in the just-completed Africa U-20 Cup of Nations and U20 World Cup.

On May 28, 2005, Benjamin Chiemela Fredrick was born in Nigeria. His parents supported his decision to pursue a career in football because he had a keen interest in the sport at an early age. Before joining Nawasara United, he played for a number of neighbourhood clubs.

Clubs from Europe have begun showing interest in the 17-year-old, who now competes for Nawasara United in the Nigerian Professional Football League.

Frederick has only recently entered the senior football arena, but he has already created waves with his mature performances, demonstrating that he stands a good chance of being the next great thing in Nigerian football.

But it was his excellent performances for the under-20 national team that got people's notice. These outstanding performances earned him his Nawasara United senior squad debut, where he has since made six games.

Frederick has made the most of his few minutes, demonstrating that his talent may already be too high calibre for the Nigeria Professional League. And these accomplishments were made by a group that is currently ranked ninth in Group A, second to last.

The defender competed in the 12-nation youth competition in Egypt just recently as a member of Nigeria's U-20 team that defeated Tunisia 4-0 to win bronze. One of the most notable players of the U-20 AFCON was Fredrick.

Frederick contributed to three clean sheets and made sure that Nigeria never allowed more than one goal in any of the five contests he featured in during the under-20 African Cup.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano of Italy claims that clubs in Europe are starting to swarm around the young Nigerian player in an effort to sign him. So far, RB Leipzig of the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City have expressed curiosity.

Meanwhile, Fredrick was selected for the U-20 World Cup in Argentina, where his team advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating the host nation 2-0 in the round of 16.

According to transfer restrictions, the teams can only sign a pre-contract with the player up until May 2023, when he turns 18 years old.
