AFC U-17 Asian Cup 2023: Vietnam announce 23-member squad
The Reds have previously played in seven editions of the competition.
On Monday, Vietnam unveiled their 23-member squad for the upcoming AFC U-17 Asian Cup 2023, which will commence from the 15th of June. This will be Vietnam’s eighth edition of the competition.
The Golden Star Warriors first played in the competition back in 2000, when they qualified as the hosts of the tournament. Vietnam also made it to the semi-finals of that edition of the Asian Cup, and gained plaudits across the continent, for the incredible fourth-place finish.
Since then, the nation has failed to make it past the group stage on five occasions, with their only appearance in the knockouts coming back in 2016, when they made it to the quarter-finals of the competition.
With their first game in the AFC U-17 Asian Cup 2023 due in five days time, Vietnam national team head coach Hoàng Anh Tuấn revealed the squad that would represent the South-east Asian country in Asia’s premier U-17 football competition.
