Lalchungnunga Chhangte set to join Rajasthan United

The youngster caught the eye of the fans in Durand Cup 2021.
The club season in Indian football is over and now the focus shifts to the off-field activities of all clubs in the transfer market. There is a lot going on in the transfer market among ISL Clubs, but I-League clubs have started their preparations too.
I-League outfit Rajasthan United FC are set to acquire the services of young Mizoram lad Lalchungnunga Chhangte from Hyderabad FC on a season-long loan deal, Khel Now can confirm. The player will join the I-league side ahead of the 2023-24 season.
“Hyderabad FC and Rajasthan United FC have agreed on a loan deal for youngster Lalchungnunga Chhangte. It will help the player get more game time and develop his skills in the process," a source close to development informed Khel Now.
About the player
Chhangte belongs from the hotbed of football in India, the northeast. He started his footballing career with his native club Chhinga Veng FC which competes in the Mizoram Premier League. He then joined Hyderabad FC’s developmental side where he made a mark for himself.
He became a regular in Hyderabad FC’s reserve team set-up and became an integral part of the team. Chhangte announced his arrival with seven goals and six assists all season for the reserve team. His heroics on the pitch also won him the Player of the Tournament award in the CEM Gold Cup 2021.
The then Hyderabad FC’s first team coach Manolo Marquez was forced to take notice of Chhangte’s good work on the pitch and eventually rewarded him with a call-up to the first team ahead of the 2022 Durand Cup.
He was handed his debut in the Durand Cup against TRAU FC where played the full match as Hyderabad FC registered a 2-0 win. Moreover, we went on to play all the games for the Nizams at the Durand Cup and registered an assist in the process.
His performances in the Durand Cup made sure he earned a place in the first team squad for the 2022-23 ISL season. Chhangte played two games in the top flight and his last game for the Nizams came in the Hero Super Cup, in a 2-1 win against Aizawl FC.
Chhangte is a gifted player who is known for his pace and versatility to operate perfectly at different positions. All in all, he is a great addition for Rajasthan United FC.
Rajasthan United FC’s preparations
The Dessert Warriors have been very active in the transfer market. They have released quite a few players and have promoted three academy graduates to the first team. Moreover, defender Amritpal Singh has also signed a new long-term deal with the club.
