Jerry Lalrinzuala set to sign for Odisha FC

The left-back is a former recipient of the ISL Emerging Player of the League award.
Jerry Lalrinzuala, who was at East Bengal last season and was released a few days back, has now penned a contract with Odisha FC. The left-back was a regular for the Red & Gold Brigade in the 2022-23 season and was a reliable figure at the back. However, after Carles Cuadrat came in as the new head coach, the management didn't extend Jerry's contract, who had signed a one-year deal last year.
"Jerry Lalrinzuala will be signing for Odisha FC in a few days. The player and the club have agreed terms," a source tracking the move informed Khel Now this morning.
Odisha FC's preparation for ISL 2023-24
Odisha FC had major plans in mind and they are replicating the same through the moves in the transfer market. The biggest surprise came when even after several reports in the media, that Sergio Lobera will sign for East Bengal, the maestro was hijacked by the Juggernauts.
And as it has happened previously with Lobera, he brings his students to his team. Ahmed Jahouh, Mourtada Fall, Edu Garcia have either signed or are in advanced talks to reunite with their former boss. Goalkeeper Amrinder Singh has also been handed a long-term extension. Even club captain Carlos Delgado and the Golden Boot winner last season, Diego Mauricio have extended their stay at Odisha FC.
The signing of Jerry Lalrinzuala makes the Odisha FC backline sturdier than it was last season. Odisha FC were in fact in search of full-backs and the acquisition of Lalrinzuala will only help the club in achieving what they desire.
Jerry Lalrinzuala's stint at East Bengal
Around a similar time, last year, Jerry Lalrinzuala had left Chennaiyin FC after his contract was over and signed for East Bengal on a one-year deal. Under the tutelage of Stephen Constantine, it didn't take him much to solidify his position in the starting XI, as the club had average back-up options in Tuhin Das and Pritam Singh. Jerry's impact was also immense, as he combined well with Naorem Mahesh Singh on the left, who in return created chances for Cleiton Silva up front.
