The newly branded visitors stunned the home crowd in just the 4th minute. Augustine Lalrochana [4'] scored Sporting Club Delhi's first-ever ISL goal, finishing off a slick counter-attack with a grounded shot past Prabhsukhan Singh Gill.

However, East Bengal's response was instantaneous and ruthless. Just three minutes later, Edmund Lalrindika [7'] pounced on a loose clearance to unleash a thunderous volley from outside the box, restoring parity. The momentum shifted entirely when Edmund was brought down inside the penalty area shortly after. Youssef Ezzejjari [11'] stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to give the hosts the lead.

Before halftime, the brilliant Miguel Figueira threaded a perfect through ball to Ezzejjari [40'], who slotted it through the goalkeeper's legs for his second of the night. Sporting Delhi fought hard in the second half but lacked the final product. In stoppage time, Miguel Figueira [90+4'] capped off a brilliant individual performance, curling a spectacular left-footed strike from distance to seal the 4-1 rout.
