Arsenal prepare second-bid worth £100m for Declan Rice

West Ham rejected their first bid

Declan Rice is the subject of an enhanced offer from Arsenal of £100 million after West Ham rebuffed their initial offer.

An updated offer for the Hammers captain is on the way after the Gunners' initial £90 million bid was rejected.

The unsuccessful offer totalled £80 million plus an additional £10 million in performance-related add-ons.

With additional payments that will bring the total to £100 million, the revised offer is anticipated to guarantee West Ham somewhere in the neighbourhood of £90 million.

However, sources claimed on Thursday that there are still problems to be resolved before the 24-year-old can transfer to the Emirates, not just the whole amount of the proposal.

It was announced last week that West Ham planned to receive the guaranteed portion of the payment for Rice in two instalments before 2025.

Since the Gunners want to spread out the cost over an extended period of time, it is believed that the payment arrangement Arsenal have suggested is unsuitable for West Ham.

Additionally, it is believed that the Gunners will grant West Ham first dibs on departing players later this summer. Eddie Nketiah has previously attracted the attention of the Hammers.

The news that Manchester City are interested in the England midfielder and are mulling a bid has increased Arsenal's haste to conclude a deal for the defensive midfielder, despite their continued confidence in their ability to do so.

According to sources, City's interest is not as strong as Arsenal's. Additionally interested in Rice are Chelsea and Manchester United.

David Sullivan, the chairman of West Ham, will be pleased with the growing interest in the midfielder because he wants to start a bidding war for his prized possessions. The 24-year-old's preferred option, according to the Gunners, is to sign with them.
