Manchester United handed a massive blow as the Korean defenders is Bundesliga bound

Kim Min-Jae is expected to sign for Bayern Munich for £43 million, beating out Manchester United in the competition to sign the Napoli defender.

The South Korean star has long been a target for Erik ten Hag's team, but earlier this month it was revealed that Thomas Tuchel's team had entered the fray.

The German powerhouses moved swiftly, and Sky Germany is currently reporting that Kim has chosen to join the Bundesliga team after verbally agreeing to do so.

Kim and the rest of his staff were persuaded by Bayern after "many rounds of negotiations," and the defender will undergo his medical once he has finished his conscription.

It is a setback for the Red Devils, who reportedly planned to make a stronger offer to entice him to relocate to Old Trafford.

The defender is anticipated to agree to a five-year contract with Bayern Munich, and according to Sky Germany, he will make between £8.5 million and £10.5 million annually.

As Napoli claimed their first-ever Scudetto in more than 30 years, Kim emerged as a revelation in the inaugural year in Italy, losing only three league matches.

Manchester United was drawn in by his performances, while Newcastle is also thought to have expressed interest.

Kim was quickly sought after by Tuchel's team, and the club is prepared to pay his £43 million release option in order to get Kim to the Allianz Arena.

Manchester United's summer transfer window has thus far been quite quiet. The Red Devils have not yet brought anyone in the door, while their opponents have been making new acquisitions.

But the Red Devils are restarting negotiations with Mason Mount and are hoping to sign the Chelsea midfielder by the end of the week.

Last Friday, Chelsea turned down United's latest bid of £55 million for Mount, but now both parties are set to re-open talks for the midfielder and make compromises.
