Kylian Mbappe confirms plans not to extend PSG contract beyond 2024

The striker might be sold in the summer
PSG were taken aback when Kylian Mbappé informed the club's hierarchy in writing of his intention not to exercise the chance of a one-year contract renewal next summer.
The striker's agreement will end in June 2024, when the 24-year-old will be free to depart PSG unless Mbappé is persuaded to either change his mind or negotiate a totally new term.
The club hierarchy is claimed to have responded poorly to the news in the letter because they had previously believed that the negotiations for a contract extension were going well.
With PSG eager to avoid giving up their greatest asset for nothing, a sale this summer seems to be the most likely outcome. Mbappé will likely continue to demand an exorbitant cost despite the contractual predicament, maybe surpassing the £166 million PSG spent on him in 2018.
The president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, has been a fan of Mbappé, and after the surprise extension of his PSG deal last year—a deal that was rumoured to include a salary of £20 million after taxes and a signing bonus in excess of £100 million—the striker discussed his thoughts of joining Madrid and informed Pérez last year to clarify why he remained.
Everything now appears to have changed. Mbappé is adamant about leaving PSG since he has already achieved domestic acclaim by winning five league championships and five Ligue 1 top scorer awards.
Mbappé also took home the World Cup in 2018, netting against Croatia in the final, and scored a hat-trick in France's loss to Argentina in the 2022 World Cup final, which saw him become the second player after Pele to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final.
Mbappé has yet to win the Champions League, considering PSG sees him as an inferior team in European competition. Neymar has also been strongly linked with a transfer abroad, while Lionel Messi has officially said that he will join Inter Miami.
However, in his recent interview, he has openly clarified that he will not stay beyond once his deal expires, as he said:
.“I have NEVER discussed any contract renewal with PSG. The board has been informed since July 15th, 2022 of my decision not to extend beyond 2024 — and the letter sent was only meant to confirm what I already told them”.
