Uruguay face Italy for the FIFA U20 World Cup 2023 crown

Uruguay and Italy make it to the FIFA U20 World Cup final. The final will take place on June 12 at the Estadio Único Diego Armando Maradona in Argentina. Both teams have a chance to lift their first-ever FIFA U 20 crown.

The South American side won their semifinal tie against the Israel U20 side. Anderson Duarte scored the only goal of the match in the 61st minute to take Uruguay U20 into their third final. Uruguay lost the FIFA U20 finals in 1997 and 2013. They get another chance to win the title.

Italy U20 won their tie in the 86th minute and the match ended 2-1 against South Korea. The Italians make it to their first final in FIFA U20 World Cup.

Uruguay U20 are on a four-match winning streak since losing to England in the second game week. The South American nation has produced a few top defenders at senior level in the last few years. Their defence in the FIFA U20 World Cup 2023 shows that more such players could be coming up.

Uruguay have only conceded three goals and kept five clean sheets. This is the best defensive record in the competition. The attack has scored 11 goals, with two being own goals.

Surprisingly, Italy also have the same record when it comes to winning and losing. The Italians began the FIFA U20 World Cup 2022-23 campaign with a win and then lost their second match to Nigeria U20.

When it comes to scoring, Italy have netted 13 goals. Their defence has conceded seven goals and kept one clean sheet. Chelsea and Italy's 20-year-old midfielder Cesare Casadei has undoubtedly been the best player in the tournament. He has netted eight goals and created two.

Isreal U20 will play for third place against FIFA U20 World Cup 2019 runners-up, South Korea. This match will take place before the final.
