USA announce 24-man squad ahead of Concacaf Nations League Title defense
Head coach B.J. Callaghan has announced the 24 man squad
The 24-player squad for the BioSteel USMNT training session, which is getting ready for the Concacaf Nations League Final Four, has been chosen by USA head coach B.J. Callaghan. On June 4, the participants will start reporting to Los Angeles for their training session.
The final 23-player lineup is not definitive until it is presented to Concacaf, which must be done by June 5 at the latest.
This summer, the USMNT will attempt to defend its back-to-back championships, starting at the Concacaf Nations League.
The 2022–23 CNL Final Four will take place from June 15–18 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and will feature a replay of the epic 2021 final game between the USA and rival Mexico, in which Christian Pulisic and Ethan Horvath's exploits in extra time helped the USMNT to a famous 3-2 victory.
The champion of the USA-Mexico game on June 15 will compete for first place against the eventual champion of the Canada-Panama semifinal.
The losers of the two semifinals will compete for third place. On June 18, the two games will be played, followed by the third-place match.
“In addition to having big-game experience and top-level talent, what’s great about this group overall is the familiarity and understanding that’s been built together these last four years about our style and our culture,” Callaghan stated about the squad. “We’re excited to integrate some of the newer faces as we set out to achieve our first goal of the summer in defending the Concacaf Nations League title.”
