Bengaluru FC sign five promising talents from India U-17s
Four of the five players played in the AFC U-17 Asian Cup last month.
A few days back, when Bibiano Fernandes joined Bengaluru FC as their reserves team head coach, it was expected that a few of his students will follow suite. Khel Now can confirm that the Blues have roped in five promising players - Ricky Meetei, Malemngamba Singh, Surajkumar Singh, Manjot Singh Dhami and Shashwat Panwar.
A source close to the development informed Khel Now this evening, "Malemngamba, Suraj, Manjot, Shashwat and Ricky from the India U-17 side have signed for Bengaluru FC. They'll be a part of the reserves team and will play under Bibiano Fernandes."
The source added, "All five players have been handed three-year contracts." Thus, with such fruitful addition to the side, it can be said that Bengaluru FC are preparing well and trying to secure the future of the club.
Four of these five players were a part of the India squad which played in the AFC U-17 Asian Cup last month. Only Manjot Singh Dhami missed it due to an injury. But all of them have been in a good run of form. Be it during the SAFF U-17 Championship or the Asian Cup Qualifiers last year or in the Asian Cup itself, all these youngsters proved their worth.
Also, now with the Indian Arrows project not in function, these players will need better clubs to up their gameplay.
Where do they play?
Shashwat Panwar is yet to make a mark in domestic football, as he was a part of the Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools. Ricky Meetei played for Eastern Sporting Union and Manjot Singh Dhami was a part of United Football Club - ASR.
Lastly, Malemngamba Singh, who netted the beautiful long-ranger against Vietnam in the first AFC U-17 Asian Cup game, along with defender Surajkumar Singh were plying their trade at SAI Football Academy in Manipur.
