Dutch midfieder Yoell van Nieff is Mumbai City FC's second foreign acquisition in this window.

After Ahmed Jahouh took a decision to leave Mumbai City and reunite with his former boss at Odisha FC, Mumbai City were in a desperate need of a defensive midfielder to fill in the gap.

A source informed Khel Now this morning, "Yoell van Nieff has signed a two-year deal at Mumbai City FC. He is a former Netherlands U-18 player and he perfectly fits into the philosophy which Mumbai City follow."

The source added, "Moreover, Mumbai City are building for Asia just like Mohun Bagan. They had a few other options in mind but chose to sign Yoell since the manager wanted him."

Who is Yoell van Nieff?

Aged 30, Yoell van Nieff is anothert high-profile foreigner who is making his way to India. His recent trade was at Puskas Akademia in Hundary. A player who was nurtured at a reputed club like Groningen during his youth, Nieff will surely turn out to be a crucial cog in Des Buckingham's contingent.

In his career, Nieff has played for clubs like Heracles Almelo, Excelsior and Dordrecht. Thus, his quality shouldn't cause any concern to the fans!

Mumbai City FC's preparations

After renewing Des Buckingham's contract earlier in the year, Mumbai City are currently eyeing continental success. Last season, they emerged as the ISL Shield winners and this time too, even after a few departures, they have held their might.

Notably, Mumbai City have signed Akash Mishra, after an intense fight with Mohun Bagan. They have also extended the contracts of Gurkirat Singh, Phurba Lachenpa, Alberto Noguera and Jorge Pereyra Diaz. Among the new arrivals, Tiri is a surprising addition to the squad, keeping in mind he spent the last few months away from football before returning to action in the Hero Super Cup. Two new youngsters from Reliance Foundation Young Champs have also joined the camp.
