I’m very excited to work under Erik ten Hag, says Mason Mount upon joining Manchester United
The former Chelsea midfielder signs a five-year-contract
Manchester United have finally completed the signing of English international Mason Mount from Chelsea on a five-year deal.
The 24-year-old was signed for £60 million from the Premier League rivals and is Erik ten Hag's first signing of the summer.
The Red Devils saw their two bids rejected by the Blues. However, both parties managed to agree on terms and payments and today the Manchester club revealed their new player.
Mason Mount is a young and talented midfielder. He started playing football at Chelsea's youth academy and left the club after spending 18 years in London. The player even recorded a video for Chelsea fans, teammates and staff ahead of the move. Mount thanked everyone and told them about his new challenge.
On joining United, the 24-year-old gave an exclusive interview to the club. He said, "It's never easy leaving the club where you grew up, but United will provide an exciting new challenge for the next phase of my career."
Mount was happy with the management under Erik ten Hag. The Englishman told that he met the Dutch manager and held discussions with him.
"Everyone can see that the club has made big steps forward under Erik ten Hag. Having met with the manager and discussed his plans, I couldn't be more excited for the seasons ahead, and am ready for the hard work expected here."
The player is also excited about the new challenge with the Red Devils. He has won trophies with the Blues at the junior and the senior level. Mount added,
"I am hugely ambitious; I know how amazing it feels to win major trophies and what it takes to do it. I will be giving everything to experience that again at Manchester United."
Mason Mount will be looking to impress Ten Hag and become a regular member of his starting lineup. The youngster is seen as a possible replacement for Christian Eriksen.
Manchester United will now focus their attention on other players and look to strengthen their team for the upcoming season.
