Canada announce squad of 2023 Women's World Cup

Prior to the 32-team tournament's start on July 20 in Australia and New Zealand, Canada coach Bev Priestman announced her final squad for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023, admitting gains and losses in the area of injuries.
Priestman announced her team almost two days late due to health concerns, just in time for FIFA's deadline on Monday.
The Olympic champion Canadians, presently ranked sixth, are in training on Australia's picturesque Gold Coast, getting ready for their tournament debut on July 20 versus No. 40 Nigeria in Melbourne. Prior to travelling to Melbourne to finish Group B's match against No.
On July 31, Canada will make the journey 2,700 km west to Perth to take on No. 22 Ireland on July 26.
"I’m proud to name this dynamic and exciting 23-player roster," the 37-year-old coach said in a statement. "I know every single person has given their all to make this squad. It’s a great mix of veterans, experienced and new players who can all bring something different this summer."
Nine cities that will host in Australia and New Zealand will host the event through August 20. The draw stipulates that the Canadians, who have been battling off the pitch with Canada Soccer to obtain a labour agreement, would play their entire tournament in Australia.
