Manchester United legend was on a holiday

Former Ajax CEO, Edwin van der Sar, was rushed to a hospital in Croatia on Friday after suffering a brain Haemorrhage.

The former Manchester United goalkeeper was on a Croatian island enjoying his holiday. He suddenly collapsed and was taken to the hospital by helicopter. The 52-year-old is under intensive care, with the first 24 hours considered crucial.

Van der Sar was the former CEO of Ajax. He also played for the club. The Dutch club released a statement confirming his condition:

"On Friday, Edwin van der Sar has had a bleeding around his brain.

"He’s currently in hospital in the intensive care unit and is in a stable condition. Once there is more concrete information, an update will follow.

"Everyone at Ajax wishes Edwin a speedy recovery.

"We’re thinking of you."

Another former side Fulham posted a message on social media.

"Everyone at Fulham Football Club wishes Edwin a speedy recovery.

"We're thinking of you. 🤍."

Edwin van der Sar started his career at Ajax and won the Eredivisie and the Champions League with them. He then spent brief spells at Juventus and Fulham, before moving to Manchester United.

At the Premier League side, he won four league titles under Sir Alex and also won the Champions League.

Post his retirement, the Dutchman joined Ajax and had recently stepped down as the club's CEO.

The 52-year-old was a legendary goalkeeper during his time and won a few matches for his teams.
