Manchester City received most money from FIFA to release players for World Cup 2022

Clubs were paid by FIFA to release players for the Qatar tournament
According to a recent FIFA study, Manchester City made the most money when their stars competed in the World Cup in Qatar the previous year.
The startling sums teams from all across the world got were detailed in the Club Rewards Programme Report, which was released on Thursday by the world Football governing body.
FIFA gave 440 clubs around the world a total of $209 million (£160.90 million), with the equivalent of $10,950 (£8,429) granted per player, per day.
Teams were paid based on how many days each player spent at the World Cup, counting from the day they got permission to leave for international duty to the day they played their final match.
For instance, a player would get 20 times the daily wage of £8,429 if they were absent from the team for 20 days.
The initiative also had the added advantage of rewarding the player's previous two teams as well as their current club, therefore some players earned compensation even though their teams did not participate in the championship game.
According to the research, European teams, who accounted for 76% of the participants in the competition, got by far the most money at $158.90 million (£122.32 million), considerably surpassing the second-place finishers from the Asian Football Confederation, who only collected a pitiful $23.78 million (£18.31 million).
Through FIFA's programme, English clubs once again earned the most money from the World Cup in Europe, taking home $37.70 million (£29.03 million).
Spain's teams received $24.40 million (£18.78 million), Germany's received $21 million (£16.17 million), and Italy's clubs—who didn't even make it to the World Cup—received $18.70 million (£14.40 million). The top five French teams received a total of $16.60 (£12.78m) in compensation.
Manchester City, which sent 16 players to the World Cup, earned $4.60 million (£3.54 million), by far the most in the Premier League.
Below are the clubs who earned the most through FIFA:
- Manchester City - £3.53m
- Barcelona - £3.49m
- Bayern Munich - £3.33m
- Real Madrid - £2.97m
- PSG - £2.96m
