Marcel Sabitzer joins Borussia Dortmund from rivals Bayern Munich on a permanent transfer

The midfielder enjoyed a short stint at Manchester United
According to reports, Marcel Sabitzer has been acquired by Borussia Dortmund from Bayern Munich for €19m package.
The transfer, which is 'on the approach of being finalised,' according to Fabrizio Romano and Florian Plettenberg, says it is expected to cost Edin Terzic's team about £19 million including add ons.
After deciding against making the versatile midfielder's loan agreement permanent, Manchester United made this decision.
The 29-year-old was acquired by Erik ten Hag in January to serve as Cristian Eriksen's injured replacement after he sustained an ankle injury that would keep him out for three months.
The Dutch manager reportedly still had feelings for the Austrian, but the Red Devils have already looked afield to bolster their midfield, purchasing Mason Mount from Chelsea in place of him.
In order to get Marcel Sabitzer out of his deal, which is slated to expire in 2025, United would have needed to shell out the Bundesliga winners £22 million under the terms of the loan arrangement.
Marcel Sabitzer set to join an exclusive club of players that includes Raphael Guerreiro, Mario Götze, and Mats Hummels, all of whom have represented both of Germany's main rivals.
Marcel Sabitzer, who also spent time with RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg, signed with Bayern for £13 million back in 2021.
He would find it difficult to establish himself in Bayern's starting lineup, appearing in just 54 games before being sent out to United in January.
In the short period that he spent with the club, Sabitzer later went on to appear 18 times across every league for Man United, most notably suffering a season-ending knee injury that kept him out of their final four games of the season.
Sabitzer might be an excellent choice for the Bundesliga's runners-up from last season, who are interested in bolstering their midfield after losing Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid in a record-breaking £113 million transfer earlier this summer. This is because Sabitzer can play a number of midfield openings.
