As the 2023-24 season is about to start, football fans and clubs are eagerly anticipating the expiration of several high-profile player contracts. These impending free agents have already begun to capture the attention of the footballing world, with speculations and rumors swirling around their potential destinations.

In this article, we highlight the top 10 most valuable players whose contracts are set to expire in 2024, making them prime targets for clubs looking to bolster their squads with world-class talent without having to pay a transfer fee.

10. Sofyan Amrabat- €30M

Amrabat is out of contract at current club Fiorentina at the end of 2023-24 season, the same situation Mount faced before making the move to Manchester United. However, the Morocco star is likely to join Manchester United if Erik ten Hag convinces the club to invest in him.

If the midfielder does end up at Old Trafford, it would represent another reunion for manager Ten Hag. The Dutchman was in charge for Amrabat's breakout 2016-17 season, when the his former club Utretch finished fourth in the Eredivisie.

Nico is a different player to his 28-year-old brother Inaki Williams; not quite as tall and strong but better in tight spaces and at beating opponents one-on-one. He now has a year left on his contract and talks over an extension have not progressed in recent months. He can play on either wing, he prefers the right wing and has more technical gifts and trickery on the ball.

8. Piotr Zielinski- €35M

Even though the 29-year-old Polish midfielder has renewed his contract, committing his future with the club until 2024. He has played 192 games for the club since joining in the 2016 summer window from Udinese, and looks to be a key part of Gennaro Gattuso’s plans for the season to come. His contract will expire in 2024, in the 2022-23 season he played 37 matches for Napoli, scoring 3 goals and helping them win the league.

7. Tomas Soucek- €35M

The Czech Republic international has endured a dreadful year and looks a shadow of the player he once was, he played an integral part in West Ham's UEFA Europa Conference League win. Soucek’s contract expires in 2024 but the club do hold the option to extend it by a year.

There was interest from both Spurs and Manchester United in the summer but it remains to be seen if the same level of suitors will come knocking if he is placed on the transfer list at the end of the next season.

6. Adrien Rabiot- €40M

Born in Saint-Maurice, Adrien Rabiot has spent his whole professional career playing in France and, more specifically, with Paris Saint-Germain. He is a combative midfielder who has excellent qualities and was snapped up by Juventus in order to strengthen their attacking attributes.

His attributes have interested Manchester United who were looking to acquire him in last season's winter transfer window, Newcastle United have shown interest in acquiring him as his contract nears expiration in 2024.

The World Cup winner with France, who currently plays for Bayern Munich has a contract that expires in 2024, Bavarians are looking to add Kyle Walker in this summer transfer window.

Manchester City will look to make a deal that replaces Kyle Walker and adds Pavard to the squad. The right-back has made 162 appearances and has won four consecutive Bundesliga titles and the UEFA Champions League in 2020.

4. Alejandro Balde- €50M

The Catalan defender, who was even called up by Luis Enrique for the World Cup in Qatar, has made 41 appearances this season, providing seven assists and scoring one goal. Just over a year ago, Barcelona were hoping that Jorge Mendes would bring the club a good offer for Alejandro Balde. A year later, after his contract was due to expire in 2024, he agreed his renewal with the club becoming one of the greatest revelations of the club.

He has scored 40 goals in 178 appearances for Barcelona so far in his career from 2017-18 to 2022-23, he has won 8 trophies for club and country so far in his career. He has lost his place due to injuries but Xavi is very keen to keep him for a long-term at the club.

2. Harry Kane- €90M

Harry Kane is currently exploring new options, he wants to explore new challenge and win some trophies in what has already been a fantastic career. His contract expires in 2024, however, Tottenham are very optimistic that they can retain their all-time leading scorer to commit his future to the club. Kane wants to move to Bayern Munich but Spurs are adamant to sell him to any other club.

Mbappe has been a hot topic in the world of football these days, the French youngster was recently left from PSG's pre-season squad. The French forward has his PSG contract valid to 2024 but PSG don't want to sell him for free.

PSG's president has been told that Kylian Mbappe will sit for the 2023-24 if he decides to leave for free next summer, so the French club has listed him on the list of players they want to sell this summer.
