The Parisians are ready to break the bank in a historic move to convince the striker to stay.

Kylian Mbappe’s last leg at PSG has been full of drama, as the striker’s contract expires in 2024, speculation began about whether he would stay at the Parc de Princes or move elsewhere. Initially, it was reported that the French international wanted to stay, with Mbappe himself dismissing reports of him leaving via Twitter.

However, as time passed it started to become more and more clear that he was more than likely to leave. His change of mind is mostly attributed to Real Madrid’s *interest in the striker.

Mbappe has never shied away from the fact that he has been an ardent Real Madrid fan growing up. He has mentioned in numerous interviews that he aspired to play for the Los Blancos.  Apart from his personal ambitions, him moving to move to Madrid makes sense as the striker at 24 years old is entering the prime of his powers. At Real Madrid, the World Cup winner would have a much more realistic chance at winning European silverware.

At first, it was reported that PSG were unwilling to let him go on a free transfer, and understandably so. It was speculated that he would most likely move to Madrid.

PSG's latest offer to Kylain Mbappe

However, PSG have now surprised everyone with a contract offering him €1 billion to stay at the club for 10 years. It is clear that PSG do not want to let their poster boy go. Mbappe is already a legend at PSG, he is their all-time top scorer and easily their most decorated player.

If Mbappe accepts the new PSG offer, it would keep him at the club for 10 years. This would make the deal the most expensive sports contract in history.

However, with all the high voltage drama surrounding his exit, Mbappe has stated that he will stay at PSG for the current season and has appeared for the team’s pre-season activities in a normal manner.

It will be interesting to see, that after expressing his desire to play for Real Madrid so publicly, will the billion-dollar deal play on his mind.
