The Red Devils are on the lookout for a new striker

Manchester United are looking for a quality striker. As Dutch striker Wout Weghorst’s less than spectacular spell at Old Trafford comes to an end, The Red Devils are left with Anthony Martial for the No. 9 position. And with Martial’s future in the team in a bit of a balance, with manager Ten Hag wanting to move on from the striker, and the owners wanting to keep him. However, The Red Devils need a striker who can be consistent and fit the way Man United are being run.

At the moment, the two strikers in consideration are Rasmus Hojlund and Harry Kane.

Rasmus Hojlund is currently with Serie A side Atalanta. Although he has not had a prolific goal scoring season, the striker has impressed in other departments, like his Physicality and his deceptive pace. Put together that with his tenacity and obvious talents as a forward, he fits perfectly into Erik Ten Hag’s attacking vision.

Hojlund himself has expressed desire to come to Old Trafford, with the 20-year-old striker stating in January that he has always been a Manchester United fan. Since the last season, he has attracted interest from many top European clubs. However, Ten Hag’s interest in him has repeatedly been bogged down by the mammoth €100m price tag Atalanta have attached to him. With Hojlund still relatively inexperienced, United are repeatedly trying to bring the price down and have reportedly submitted a “top price” they won’t exceed for the striker.

The other option presented to them is Harry Kane. United’s interest in the striker has been on and off, however this is due to his contract and transfer issues and is not a question on the strikers’ talents.

What does Harry Kane bring to the table?

Harry Kane is already a Premier League legend; he is second on the list of all time Premier League scorers and is Tottenham’s highest ever scorer. However, Kane is bound to leave London as he searches for a team where he has a more realistic chance of winning silverware.

Kane is everything United are looking for; He is an attacking striker, score tons of goals, seems to be getting better with age and is tenacious. Moreover, he has one thing had Hojlund doesn’t have at the moment – experience. Playing in the Premier League since 2009, Kane has been a part of almost all big occasions despite not winning silverware.

On top of that, the striker is widely regarded for his strong link up play, something which could come in handy at Old Trafford in the presence of quality wingers and midfielders, the likes of – Rashford, Casemiro and now, Mason Mount.

As Kane is asked to sign a new contract with Tottenham or be put up for sale, Manchester United are reportedly on “Red alert” to snag the striker. This comes after United’s interest in the striker was dismissed by Spur’s , when they stated that he was not for sale earlier.

Both Kane and Hojlund bring various aspects to the table. Now what remains to be seen is whether The Red Devils go for a 30-year-old proven striker in Kane, or shell out for a 20-year-old striker who has massive potential but is yet to prove himself in Hojlund.
