The Algerian will be another top player to join Saudi club if deal goes through

Riyad Mahrez is the next big name who is likely to end up playing in the Saudi Pro League 2023-24.

According to reports from a Saudi outlet Ariyadhiah, the 32-year-old forward has agreed to join Al-Ahli. It was also reported that the Algerian will undergo a medical before signing a contract with the Saudi club.

A couple of days ago it was confirmed that Al-Ahli were preparing a £30 million transfer bid for the treble winner. With the personal terms agreed upon, this amount is likely to remain the first and final bid for the player.

The 32-year-old joined the Premier League champions in 2018 from Leicester City. He led the Foxes to a historic title and added four more league titles to his cabinet.

Riyad Mahrez is under a contract with Manchester City until 2025. It is being reported that the Algerian has been offered a package worth around £480,000 a week.

The 32-year-old was not a regular starter for Guardiola last season. However, he was one of the key players in the squad. Mahrez featured in 47 games in 202-23 and started 35. He scored 15 goals and provided 13 assists. Overall, the Algerian has played 236 times for City and scored 78 crucial goals. His assist total is 59.

Pep Guardiola considers him a key player. Ilkay Gundogan has left the club and Bernardo Silva is another player whose future is yet to be decided. This means that the Algerian could get more minutes next season if he remains.

With four Premier League, two FA Cups and one Champions League title, Mahrez could be closing his chapter at Manchester City. His former Leicester City teammate N'Golo Kante has also joined Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia. Both these players won the league with the Foxes and could be facing each other next season.
