Sadio Mane names Ghana as favourites to lift AFCON 2023

Senegal look to defend their crown in Ivory Coast
Bayern Munich and Senegal forward Sadio Mane believed that Ghana will win the Africa Cup of Nations 2023 which will be held in Ivory Coast.
The 31-year-old led Senegal to their first-ever AFCON title in 2021. He was the best player in the tournament. Mane believes that Cameroon, Egypt, and Morocco also have a great chance to lift the title.
The player also added Nigeria and Algeria to the list of contenders for the tournament that will be held in Ivory Coast.
Sadio Mane said, "The AFCON is full of surprises, but we know the usual best teams like the hosts, Nigeria, Egypt, Morocco, Ghana, Algeria and Cameroon."
Ghana have not won the tournament since 1982. They have lost their last three AFCON finals, with the most recent loss coming in 2015.
Other than this, the Black Stars have exited the last AFCON and the 2022 World Cup in the group stage. They have struggled in recent times and will have to play their best football to lift the title. The team failed to progress beyond the group stage of the last AFCON with Morocco, Gabon and Comoros advancing ahead of the four-time African champions.
Ghana are yet to make it to the final tournament that is scheduled to take place at the start of next year. Most of the Ghanaian players feature in Europe and have a lot of experience. The team will look to end their poor form in the cup competitions.
Recently the Ghana U-21 team were eliminated in the group stage of the AFCON U-23 championship. The Black Meteors failed to make it to the next Olympics after an early exit from the competition.
