The Argentine was on fire again in his first start for the club

Inter Miami won 4-0 against Atlanta United as Lionel Messi lights up Florida.

If Lionel Messi’s debut for Inter Miami was like a scene from a movie, his first start for them can be called its higher earning blockbuster sequel.

Messi made his first start for Inter Miami as captain in a Leagues Cup game in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In true Messi fashion, he opened the scoring in the 8th minute when long time teammate Sergio Busquets chipped the ball over the oppositions defensive line, Messi quickly went into open space, took possession, ran down the oppositions line and shot the ball into the bottom left corner of the goalpost, hitting the crossbar. However, Messi caught hold of the rebound and scored.

Messi again made the scorers list in the 22nd minute as fellow winger Robert Taylor assisted the Talisman in the back third of the pitch. Messi ended the game with 2 goals and 1 assist.

Other two Miami goals were scored by fellow left winger Robert Taylor in the 44th and 53rd minute respectively. Messi assisted his goal in the 53rd minute.

In the 13th minute of the game, Messi deployed on of his signature touches to pass the ball to Martinez, who missed the top right corner by a few meters.

Lionel Messi’s arrival seems to have worked the magic for Inter Miami, as he has racked up 3 goals in less than an hour of play. Moreover, before the World Cup winner’s arrival, Miami were on an 11-game winless streak, now they have won 2 games on the trot.

Along with Messi, superstar Sergio Busquets also looks like he is finding football in Miami quite to his liking as he has assisted Messi in both the games so far.

Messi and Inter Miami will next be seen in action on 21st August in Fort Lauderdale against Charlotte FC in an MLS regular season game. If Messi remains match fit, the game will mark his MLS debut.
