Inter Kashi sign defender Peter Hartley
Peter Hartley terminated his contract midway last season with Jamshedpur FC.
Inter Kashi FC, the recently established club, hailing from Varanasi, are preparing to make their inaugural appearance in the upcoming season of the I-League. With great delight, they have announced their first player signing via their official Twitter account. And the first acquisition is none other than, Peter Hartley, a former defender and captain of Jamshedpur FC.
Who is Peter Hartley?
Born on April 9, 1988, in England, Hartley mostly plays as a central defender. He began his youth career in the Youth academy of Sunderland AFC and made his professional debut for the club in 2007.
Over the years, Hartley played for several English teams, including Hartlepool United, Stevenage, and Plymouth Argyle. He demonstrated his defensive abilities and leadership on the field, becoming a key figure for these clubs.
In 2017, he embarked on a transition to the realm of Scottish football, assuming a pivotal role within the ranks of Motherwell FC. In recognition of his remarkable capabilities, he was bestowed with the prestigious honor of captaining the club. Hartley not only exhibited exceptional skills on the field, but his unwavering passion for the game endeared him greatly to the fans of Motherwell.
After the tenure at Motherwell FC, Hartley made a significant move to India to join Jamshedpur FC during the 2020-21 season. Under the guidance of former JFC manager Owen Coyle, Hartley swiftly earned trust and respect, ultimately assuming the role of team captain in his debut season in the Indian Super League.
Peter made an immediate and significant impact upon joining Jamshedpur FC for his debut season with the club. He demonstrated a commanding presence in the backline, effectively holding the defensive unit together and serving as a crucial asset during critical moments.
In addition to his impressive defensive statistics, Peter occasionally ventured forward to contribute with pivotal goals for Jamshedpur FC. Throughout the ISL 2020-21 campaign, the adept defender scored two goals in 19 matches, further solidifying his commendable defensive record.
