The Belgian striker is unwanted at Chelsea

Reports are suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur have officially registered their interest in Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku. However, no official bids have been reported yet.

Tottenham’s interest in Lukaku comes at a time when they have had to let go of their most prolific goal scorer and captain, Harry Kane. Spurs at the moment does not have a proven world-class striker who could partner up with Heung Min Son in front of goal since Harry Kane left for Bayern Münich for €120 million.

Romelu Lukaku has prior Premier League experience as well. He has played in the English top flight before for teams like West Bromwich Albion, Everton, Manchester United, and most recently, Chelsea. The Belgian is currently 30 years old and is currently contracted by Chelsea, with him being linked with both Inter Milan and Juventus in this transfer window.

Romelu Lukaku is widely regarded as a world-class striker. However, he has seen a drop in form, making him undesirable for the teams he has been playing for recently. Lukaku spent last season on loan at Inter Milan, and despite what many have called a "hall of shame" performance in the Champions League final, he was decent for them.

When he arrived at Chelsea after his loan tenure, he was informed by Chelsea management that he was not in their plans anymore. Inter Milan showed interest in permanently acquiring him. However, when it was revealed that he was in talks with fierce rival Juventus, their interest completely ceased. And when news about his possible move to Juventus was made public, Juventus fans were very eager to demonstrate their discontent with him, calling him undesirable.

Lukaku is currently out of favour with all of his potential employers. He certainly has the skills to be a regular at Tottenham. It remains to be seen if, if he does indeed move to London, he will be able to find his form again.
