Mehdi Rahmati congratulated the Iranians and the FC Nassaji fanbase after the AFC Champions League win (game) over Mumbai City.
Mumbai City FC endured a decisive 0-2 defeat at the hands of FC Nassaji Mazandaran in the AFC Champions League group stage encounter at the renowned Balewadi Stadium. Nassaji broke the deadlock in the 34th minute, as Mohammad Hosseini Ehsan demonstrated impeccable aplomb with a composed finish.
The scoreline stood at 1-0 in Nassaji's favor as the teams retreated to the dressing rooms at half-time. In the 62nd minute, Nassaji further solidified their lead, courtesy of a goal crafted by Mohammad Reza Azadi. Despite creating opportunities, Mumbai City FC's execution in the final third fell short of expectations time and again.

This was FC Nassaji's debut in the AFC Champions League. On being asked about the happiness of winning the match against a formidable Mumbai City FC side, Mehdi Rahmati replied, “Congratulations are in order for all Iranians, particularly the dedicated fans of Nassaji. Their unwavering support for the team, demonstrated both domestically and on the international stage, is truly commendable. How will the team look forward to the upcoming matches?
FC Nassaji initiated their AFC Champions League journey with an accumulation of three points. This will undoubtedly serve as a favourable aspect as they progress towards their upcoming fixtures.
“I am very happy that we could get the first three points and manage to make our people happy, especially Nassaji fans. I would like to say congratulations to the head coach of the team Mr. Rahmati”, stated the player of the game, Mohammad Reza Azadi.
Head coach Mehdi Rahmati was very positive when asked about the plans going forward. He mentioned, “This is my second encounter participating in such a tournament. Moving forward, it is imperative that we put in significant efforts. We must strive diligently as expectations from us have now heightened compared to the past.”
