We are happy, this is a cool down: Juan Ferrando
Mohun Bagan cruised over Odisha FC with a four goal victory
Mohun Bagan Super Giants started their AFC Cup campaign impressively by securing a 4-0 victory over Odisha FC. Sahal Abdul Samad, Liston Colaco scored one each while Dimitri Petratos scored a brace to complete the scoring for the Mariners.
Juan Ferrando appeared in good spirits following the game as he shared his thoughts and discussed his plans for the upcoming matches. The Kolkata side dominated the match particularly after Mourtada Fall’s red card. Ferrando highlighted the importance of it. He also addressed how his team will prepare for the ISL and how far this Odisha team will reach in the ISL.
Target point of the match
Odisha FC’s defender Mourtada Fall was shown a red card just before halftime, shifting the momentum of the match in favour of Mohun Bagan Super Giants. The Kolkata side capitalised on this advantage by launching a relentless attack in the second half, ultimately scoring four goals against the debutant team.
“The red card was pretty clear. The team was good, so we found the spaces in the second half, same as the first half. But, obviously to score is more important. I think it was not because Mourtada was not on the field.” as the MBSG coach highlighted that his team was performing better from the start and not after Mourtada Fall’s red card.
Finding it Difficult
Juan Ferrando was queried about how his team manages their organisation and recovery between various tournaments within limited timeframes, he said, “It was difficult. They are ready to prepare for the crucial matches because for us we have the two rounds. It’s necessary to work like a team, to think like a team.”
Rating the Odisha FC side
“The opponent, I think they are the top three in the Indian League. Their players, coaches, management, this team has good talents this season. Their team is incredible, they have very good players.” he replied when asked about how he would rate his opponent.
The magic wand for Mohun Bagan against Odisha
Mohun Bagan really scored 4 against Odisha which is nothing short of magic. Ferrando addressed, “The scoreline doesn’t matter. We are happy. This is a cool down. Amazing performance. But, tomorrow’s a new day and we need to prepare for it.”
The Kolkata Giants will now play in the ISL after a couple of days. “The most important is the recording for the players. Obviously because in three days is the next match(ISL). The second is to find the right rest. We need to come with a plan and it’s our job, the coaches and the staff.”
