Kerala Blasters file racism complaint against Bengaluru FC player

Kerala Blasters have requested Bengaluru FC to take necessary actions against the alleged player.

Kerala Blasters have conveyed their discontent and apprehension regarding an alleged incident of racial discrimination during the commencement of the Indian Super League against Bengaluru FC on September 21.

Reportedly, it has come to light that Ryan Williams, a player of Bengaluru FC, has been accused of engaging in a potential racially abusive behavior towards Aiban Dohling, a defender of Kerala Blasters.

During the 82nd minute of the match, an incident reportedly occurred wherein Ryan and Aiban engaged in a confrontation. During the altercation, Ryan took the initiative to gently pinch his nose and discreetly motioned for Aiban to create some distance from the situation. The recorded footage was subsequently shared on the official Twitter account of KBFC Manjappada, the recognized fan club representing the Kerala Blasters FC.

“It has come to our attention that during the match, one of our players was subjected to a disrespectful gesture by a Bengaluru FC player. We want to make it abundantly clear that there is absolutely no room for racist and derogatory behavior in our Club and in the sport. Racism, discrimination, and disrespectful actions have no place on the football pitch or anywhere else”, stated the Kerala Blasters in an official statement.

They have filed an official complaint against the incident and have also urged Bengaluru FC to take right action against such behavior.

“We have filed an official complaint with the appropriate authorities, urging them to conduct a thorough investigation into this incident. We trust that the authorities will treat this matter with the utmost seriousness and take the necessary steps to address it appropriately. We also call upon our good colleagues at Bengaluru FC to take appropriate action," added by KBFC in their official statement.

Additionally, it was stated that football is a sport that brings together individuals from diverse cultures worldwide, “We remain committed to promoting a culture of diversity, inclusion, and respect in football and in our Club.”
