Odisha FC lost against Mohun Bagan in the last game

In less than 24 hours, Odisha FC will commence their upcoming season of the Indian Super League against Chennaiyin FC. The match is slated to take place at The Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, and is scheduled to kick off at 5.30PM IST.

After experiencing a loss against Mohun Bagan Super Giant in the AFC Cup, the team aims to rejuvenate their squad and commence a new in the upcoming match. Ahead of tomorrow's fixture, a pre-match press conference was held, which included the presence of head coach Sergio Lobera and Carlos Delgado.

Preparation against familiar opponent

When asked about this question, Coach Sergio Lobera said, I believe they constitute a highly capable team. But we are filled with enthusiasm. We wholeheartedly embrace this challenge. The initial match against Mohun Bagan Super Giant in the AFC Cup presented a considerable difficulty, yet we are determined to demonstrate our unwavering commitment to progress.

Return of Owen Coyle

Chennaiyin FC has announced the appointment of Owen Coyle as their coach for the upcoming season. Coyle previously served as the coach of the team during the 2019-20 season, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership and guided the team to admirable performances. With a light hearted smile Sergio Lobera said, “He is truly difficult to compete against. And I am happy that he is back in the ISL but not happy that he is going to compete against us.”

Preparation of players

Sergio Lobera added that, “All the players are prepared and eager for the upcoming match. The team is fueled with enthusiasm, having emerged victorious from a series of challenging games. Unlike the friendly matches during the season's build-up, these competitive encounters truly test their abilities. With only one previous competitive game under our belt, the players share the same mindset as mine, as their coach.”

Carlos Delgado also looked very confident about their next match, “We are working hard, but it's a new competition and a new game. But as our coach said earlier, we will go game by game. Focus on one game at a time.”

Enthusiasm of fans

The fans will surely be very excited for the next match and will come in huge numbers to support their team. “We know they have been very passionate about the team. Although the last match didn’t go as planned, we will surely put on a better performance for them tomorrow”, Sergio added.
