Vedanta Sesa Goa host fifth pop-up camp in Mulgao

Vedanta Sesa Goa's camp was organised with the backing of Sesa Football Academy.

Highlighting its continuing and growing engagement with the community in Bicholim Taluka, Vedanta Sesa Goa recently hosted its fifth pop-up camp at the Government High School (GHS), Mulgao. The event, which took place on 09 Sep 23, was attended by almost 50 enthusiastic and young footballers.

The camp was held under the aegis of the Sesa Football Academy (SFA) & a dedicated team of acclaimed SFA coaches conducted the day-long camp and imparted invaluable tips and guidance. The young participants benefitted tremendously from the expert guidance, and helped them to identify their own attributes and skills.

The event was attended by Ms Swati Arondekar, the Principal of GHS, Shirodwadi Mulgao, and witnessed by Ashish Pilankar, Head CSR & PR, Bicholim Mines. The coaching team comprised of Joao Rebello (Head Coach), Joyner Antao (Assistant Coach), Ananth Adkonkar (Goalkeeper Coach), and Sailee Bambolkar (Physiotherapist ). The participating students actively engaged with the coaching staff and demonstrated curiosity and willingness to transform their skill levels. 

The pop-up football camp was aligned with Vedanta Sesa Goa's mission to nurture grassroots football development. The primary objective of this camp was to provide a platform for students to express their passion for football and stoke their innate enthusiasm for the sport. The coaching staff conducted various drills, and match scenarios & freestyle exhibitions. Beyond physical skills, the coaches also delved into the crucial aspect of mental health, imparting valuable insights on effective leadership within a team. Furthermore, they underscored the significance of football and regular exercise in promoting overall health and well-being.

Importantly, the camp aimed to instil a positive mindset among the students and enhance their daily routines. In response to the event, Ms Swati Arondekar, Principal GHS stated thanked and appreciated Vedanta Sesa Goa for the initiative and for providing the students and young footballers in Bicholim Taluka an opportunity to hone their skills. She also extended a request for the continuation of such activities in the future. She also emphasized upon the pressing need for such sessions in today's age, recognizing the prevalence of technology-driven lifestyles among children.

Vedanta Sesa Goa extends its heartfelt gratitude to GHS, Mulgao for their support and collaboration in making the football pop-up camp a success. Vedanta’s deepening engagement with the community at Mulgao underlines its commitment to transforming lives through sporting excellence in Goa.

SFA aims to develop quality footballers from the state of Goa and across the country by creating environment for discovering, nurturing, and building talent for Indian Football. SFA has groomed 183 footballers since it’s inception in 1999 and has made tremendous impact on the football fraternity across the country.

Most of the academy alumni have represented the National team, I-League clubs and prestigious football clubs across the nation. Apart from Residential football training programmes through Sesa Football Academy, Vedanta has launched Vedanta women’s league (VWL) in collaboration with GFA, which is one of its kind platforms for aspiring women footballers across Goa state. 250+ Women footballers from across Goa has participated in VWL in last 6 editions.
