There were no takers for these individuals in the transfer market.

The 2023 summer transfer window was full of jaw-dropping deals. Clubs across Europe and the rest of the world spent massively to recruit their transfer targets in order to bolster their squads. However, a lot of players who were out of contract did not find any buyers.

The free agents are available to sign without a transfer fee as they are not associated with any club. There were plenty of high-profile players who were available to sign on a free transfer but did not secure any moves by the end of the transfer window.

Here is a look at the top 10 stars who are still free agents after the conclusion of the summer transfer window 2023:

Alfredo Morelos

Alfredo Morelos is a free agent after his contract with Rangers ran out in June 2023. The 27-year-old Columbian forward did not find any team in the transfer market despite his talents. He played 269 times for the Scottish side, scoring 124 goals and making 58 assists.

Javier Pastore

Javier Pastore remains a free agent after the conclusion of the summer transfer window. The former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder was contracted with Qatar SC and became a free agent in July 2023. Unfortunately for the 34-year-old, he could not find a club in the transfer window.

Anthony Modeste

Anthony Modeste is a free agent after his contract with Borussia Dortmund ran out in July 2023. The 35-year-old found no takers in the summer transfer window. There are reports that clubs in Germany are interested in his services but there have been no concrete talks as of yet.

Axel Tuanzebe

Manchester United did not renew Axel Tuanzebe’s contract thereby bringing an end to a nine-year association. The 25-year-old navigated through the academy ranks of MUFC and spent loan spells at Aston Villa, Napoli and Stoke City before becoming a free agent in the summer transfer window of 2023.

Papu Gomez

It is an eye-opening revelation to see Papu Gomez without a club to represent. The former Sevilla FC midfielder is a free agent after his contract with the Spanish outfit ran down in August 2023. It feels like a matter of time before the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner finds a club.

Kasper Schmeichel

Kasper Schmeichel, a Premier League winner with Leicester City FC, is a free agent. This is after French outfit OGC Nice ended his contract and released the custodian. The 36-year-old is one of the most experienced players available to sign on a free transfer.

Andre Ayew

Andre Ayew signed for Nottingham Forest from Al-Sadd SC  in the winter transfer window of 2023. However, his contract ran out in July, making him a free agent. The 33-year-old, despite his qualities, has not been signed by any club and remains a free agent.

Stevan Jovetic

Stevan Jovetic became a free agent after his contract with Hertha BSC ended in July 2023. The former Manchester City striker has also played for clubs like Inter, Sevilla and AS Monaco but finds himself without a club after the end of the summer transfer window of 2023.

Jesse Lingard

Lingard could join West Ham as a free agent

Former Manchester United and Nottingham Forest midfielder Jesse Lingard is also a free agent. The attacking midfielder found no takers in the summer transfer window. West Ham United showed some interest in signing him but did not move ahead with the move.

David de Gea

Manchester United legend David de Gea is a free agent after the conclusion of his contract with the Premier League outfit. Despite winning the Golden Glove award in the 2022-23 season of the PL, the Spanish custodian did not see any club moving to sign him. He heads into the 2023-24 season without a club to represent.
