Dominik Szoboszlai becomes fourth Hungarian to score in Premier League

Liverpool's midfielder scored the opening game against Aston Villa

Dominik Szoboszlai joined Zoltán Gera, Tamás Priskin, and Kos Buzsáky as the fourth Hungarian player with a goal in the Premier League.

Szoboszlai was credited with a goal, becoming just the fourth Hungarian player to score in the English Premier League when he opened the scoring for Liverpool against Aston Villa.

Dominik Szoboszlai, a dynamic midfielder from Hungary, has joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.

The British media stated that Liverpool had settled the 70 million euro ($76.37 million) release provision in the 22-year-old Hungary captain's agreement.

Following a corner bounced out to him at the outside of the penalty area in the third minute, the Hungarian scored his first goal for the team with a magnificent left-footed strike into the corner.

While Tamás Priskin scored for Watford, other Hungarian players like Zoltán Gera scored his first Premier League goal for West Brom.

This campaign, Liverpool got off to a strong start with a 1-1 draw against Chelsea, a 3-1 home triumph over Bournemouth, and a 2-1 away victory over Newcastle United.

The latter is a particularly noteworthy accomplishment given that the Reds defeated the fourth-place finishers from the previous season despite being down a man when Van Dijk was dismissed in the 28th minute.

In an interview with The Telegraph, he referred to the new Liverpool player as "the new Puskás" and compared him to David Beckham.

The analogy to Puskás is unwarranted because Puskás claimed the UCL-predecessor European Cup multiple times with Real Madrid and set a record by scoring four goals against Eintracht Frankfurt in the 1960 final, a feat he alone had accomplished.

The fact that Szoboszlai's Liverpool team could not even make it into the UCL for this season makes it unlikely that he would be able to duplicate any of these legendary feats. They did, however, last time win the most coveted club trophy in Europe in 2019, and they haven't won since.
