The French full-back is currently injured

According to AS, leftback Ferland Mendy of Real Madrid and France's national team is about to enter a time of uncertainty at Madrid, one in which the team may decide to sell him soon. Mendy hasn't played yet this year due to an injury.

Former Lyon defender has been injured 12 times during his four years in Madrid following his €48 million transfer from France, so he is familiar with the scenario. He most recently missed 15 La Liga games in the previous season due to a muscular problem.

According to the site, the player may soon be forced out due to his injury history, the signing of fellow left-back Fran Garcia, and the fact that he only has two years left on his contract at the Bernabéu. At Real, contract extension conversations typically begin around this time, although Mendy has not yet experienced this.

The club was open to offers for Mendy this and last summer, although no bids came, and they are already looking to Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies as a replacement – the Canadian has just one year left on his current contract. As a result, this season will define the player’s Real career, and he will need to prove he is still capable of the level (and fitness) that helped his team win the 21-22 Champions League.

It has been called Ferland Mendy's "last train," as the French left-back is yet to play this season due to yet another injury. Fran Garcia, who is returning, has performed admirably thus far but is anticipated to improve in the position. Mendy's limited availability, together with earlier concerns over his offensive effectiveness, have however caused many to assume that his time is running out.
