Germany sacked current manager Hansi Flick

Jurgen Klopp is being targeted as the next coach of the German football national team. After Germany's 4-1 loss to Japan in a friendly match on Saturday, Hansi Flick was fired as the team's manager on Sunday.

Flick, as a result, emerged as the initial German chief to be fired since the position was established in 1926.

Four of the past five games have been in defeat for the four-time World Cup champions, and Flick has guided just 12 victories in his 25 matches in charge since taking over for Joachim Low in August 2021.

For the friendly against France on Tuesday, Rudi Voller, who led the team from 2000 to 2004, will serve as interim manager with Hannes Wolf and Sandro Wagner serving as his assistants.

Next year's European Tournament will be held in Germany, and the country is now looking for a new manager. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is one of the candidates that have been mentioned.

Indeed, according to rumours in Germany, the German FA is 'enamoured' with Klopp and considering hiring the Reds manager at the end of the current season, according to the Mail Online.

The favourite is reportedly Julien Nagelsmann, who although leaving Bayern Munich as the manager last year is still bound by his legal contract there.

Germany has a solid worldwide football reputation because of years of excellence. They have advanced to the semifinals or higher in nine of their previous 13 European Championship competitions and have appeared in eight World Cup finals, winning four of them.

Before Flick took over, the team's fortunes began to deteriorate, and their 2018 World Cup group stage departure marked their first failure to advance past the first round in 80 years.

Low did poorly in Euro 2020, barely making it to the round of 16, while Flick's team in 2022 eliminated itself from the World Cup in the group stage twice in a row.

Overall, the 58-year-old was fired after 12 wins in 25 games. Additionally, Flick currently has the dubious distinction of being the only German head coach to be fired since the position was established in 1926.

Because of his 15-year success with Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool, Klopp is the most well-known German coach on the planet, so it makes sense that the DFB would fantasise about having him manage his own national team.
