Urawa Red Diamonds are reigning champions of AFC Champions League

Clubs are limited to signing a maximum of five players born outside of Asia for their AFC Champions League teams.

This season, the restriction has been changed; previously, clubs were only permitted to deploy a total of four foreign players in the league.

The federation requested the foreign player cap to be raised, but they preferred it if the continental quota mirrored the cap in each local league on the continent.

At the time the request was made, seven international players were permitted in the Saudi Professional League, one of eleven teams on the continent that permitted additional imports for local competition.

This season, the restriction has been changed; previously, clubs were only permitted to deploy a total of four foreign players in the league.

There should be 35 players in the squad overall for the club. The squad can register as many foreigners as it likes. However, five plus one international player (5 foreign players + 1 Asian player). requiring a minimum of five Saudi players to be present at all times.

The Champions League will also be placed in the western region of the competition, which is divided into two geographic halves before the final, along with the Saudi Pro League along with additional teams.

The final phases of the tournament will take part at the exact same moment as the culmination of domestic seasons, which will make managing teams and agreements with players easier.

After acquiring Neymar, Al Hilal might be forced to release three players owing to an AFC Champions League rule.

Al Hilal, who placed second in the Saudi Pro League following winners Al Ittihad the previous year, earned a spot in the continental championship.

Although Al Hilal currently have eight non-Asian players in their squad, they still have South Korean centre defender Jang Hyun-soo under contract.

Therefore, in order to meet the squad requirements, they might need to move on three players or they would not be able to add them.
