LaLiga president Javier Tebas says he wished Lionel Messi finished his career at Barcelona

Barcelona failed to the Argentine in summer window

Javier Tebas, the president of LaLiga, has expressed his desire for Lionel Messi to be able to complete his playing career in LaLiga.

Tebas spoke on the same topic in Buenos Aires at a sports summit. Tebas said the following regarding Messi, citing Mundo Deportivo:

"Messi did not finish his career in LaLiga because Leo and FC Barcelona did not agree. I wish he could have stayed and finished his career in LaLiga. It would have been the best for him, for me and for Barcelona,"

Tebas continued by discussing Lionel Messi's choice to sign with Inter Miami of the Major League Soccer. After his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired, the Argentinean player signed with the American team as a free agent.

Tebas stated that it might have been a player family decision. Tebas said that he hoped Messi had stayed at Barcelona instead of leaving for PSG. He stated:

Leo has his family and his way of thinking; in addition, I think he has been looking for new experiences for some years. I wish he had come to Spanish football and never gone to PSG. The end of this film has been sad between Messi and football Spanish."

Lionel Messi has significantly increased the popularity of the MLS since entering Inter Miami as a free agent. Megastars are now frequently showing up to see the Argentine play.

Messi's on-field accomplishments have also been notable; in 11 games for Inter Miami across tournaments, the Argentina captain has scored 11 goals and contributed five assists. The 36-year-old is set to win his eight Ballon d'Or after leading Argentina to FIFA 2022 World Cup trophy in December.
