NYCFC responded fiercely, leveling the match in the 17th minute thanks to a brilliant free-kick routine finished perfectly by Nicolás Fernández Mercau [17']. Messi nearly restored Miami's lead before halftime, rattling the post and the crossbar, but the teams went into the break level at 1-1.

The hosts took the lead in the 59th minute when Maxi Moralez threaded a beautiful pass to Agustín Ojeda [59'], who calmly flipped it past Dayne St. Clair. However, the advantage lasted barely two minutes. In the 61st minute, Lionel Messi [61'] stepped up to take a free-kick. His strike took a wicked deflection off Hannes Wolf and found the back of the net, marking his historic 901st career goal and tying the game at 2-2.

The momentum swung completely in Miami's favor, and in the 74th minute, Micael [74'] powered home a towering header from a pinpoint Noah Allen cross to secure the 3-2 win. NYCFC pushed hard for a late equalizer, but a massive stoppage-time save by St. Clair against Aiden O'Neill ensured Inter Miami bounced back from their recent Champions Cup exit to take all three points on the road!
